About

About State College Area Meals on Wheels

State College Area Meals on Wheels prepares and delivers over 55,000 meals each year to homebound persons in the Centre Region. Since 1971, millions of meals have been delivered. This non-profit, home-delivered meal program depends primarily on fundraising events and private donations. More than 150 volunteers, a staff of three, and space provided by Grace Lutheran Church (GLC) make this service possible.

Nutritious meals are planned and prepared in the GLC kitchen and delivered to the homes of clients Monday through Friday. These are in the form of freshly prepared weekday meals as well as weekend supplemental frozen meals, which allow clients access to meals 7 days a week. This service helps maintain good nutrition for our clients so that they can remain in their own homes for as long as possible. Persons of any age may apply – see Eligibility.

Volunteers are the lifeblood of Meals on Wheels. Volunteering with Meals on Wheels is a meaningful and satisfying way to give back to the local community.

Our Mission

State College Area Meals on Wheels prepares and delivers nutritious, affordable meals to the elderly and disabled living within the State College School District to help maintain their quality of life and allow them to remain in their own homes.

Our Location

Grace Lutheran Church – home to Meals on Wheels since 1971.

For over 50 years, Grace Lutheran Church has been the home of State College Area Meals on Wheels. Located at the corner of Garner Street and East Beaver Avenue, the kitchen facilities in the lower level of the church have seen the production of millions of meals for the homebound residents of the community. Without the outstanding support of Grace Lutheran Church, Meals on Wheels could not accomplish its important mission of providing nutritious meals to those in need.
